Water Cooling Laser Welder

Core Components Of Fiber Laser Welding Machines

Fiber laser welding machines integrate advanced optoelectronic and mechanical systems, with the fiber laser as the energy core. The fiber laser, typically a ytterbium-doped one, generates high-energy-density laser beams at 1070–1080 nm, offering high electro-optical conversion efficiency (over 30%) and long-term stability. It comes in continuous-wave (CW) models for thick-plate welding and pulsed versions for precision micro-joints, supporting power ranges from low (<1000W) for electronics to high (>6000W) for heavy industries. As the "power source," it directly determines welding depth, speed, and consistency.

Optical Transmission & Welding Head System

This system acts as the "light guide and execution end." A flexible optical fiber transmits the laser from the source to the welding head with minimal energy loss, enabling flexible integration with robotic arms and gantries for complex workpiece processing. The welding head houses critical optics: a collimator shapes the divergent beam into parallel light, while a focusing lens narrows it to a tiny spot (as small as 0.1 mm) for high energy density. Many heads include a wobble function to bridge gaps up to 0.3 mm, reducing defects like lack of fusion. A coaxial gas nozzle delivers protective gas (argon/nitrogen) to prevent molten pool oxidation, ensuring weld quality.

Control & Auxiliary Systems

The control system, the "brain," centralizes operation via PLC, touchscreens, and dedicated software. It precisely regulates laser power, welding speed, pulse frequency, and trajectory, supporting automated programming and data logging for quality traceability. The cooling system, usually water-cooled with dual circulations, maintains stable temperatures for lasers and optics, preventing overheating during long-duration operation. Together, these auxiliary systems ensure reliable, high-precision performance, making fiber laser welding machines indispensable for modern manufacturing across automotive, aerospace, and medical device industries.
