In the stainless steel processing industry, nitrogen cutting is widely favored for its oxide-free cuts and silvery-white finish. However, in actual production, many users encounter a common problem — obvious lines appearing on the cutting section. These lines not only affect the appearance but also may increase the workload of subsequent grinding processes.

Based on numerous customer application cases, XingChuang Laser has summarized that there are three main reasons for the formation of section lines:

1. Excessively Fast Cutting Speed

2. When the cutting speed is too fast, the molten metal cannot be completely blown away by the air flow in time, which easily forms flow marks on the section.

3. Low Air Pressure

4. Insufficient nitrogen pressure makes it difficult to discharge the metal residues in the cutting seam, thus leaving irregular lines on the section.

5. Excessive Heat

6. Setting the light output frequency or duty cycle too high will cause heat concentration and uneven heating of the material, resulting in heat-affected lines.

In response to the above reasons, the engineering team of XingChuang Laser recommends the following solutions:

1. Properly reduce the cutting speed to ensure a stable and sufficient cutting process;

2. Increase the nitrogen pressure to enhance the effect of blowing off molten slag;

3. Moderately reduce the light output frequency or duty cycle to reduce heat accumulation and ensure the stability of the metal structure at the cutting edge.

Adjustment Effect

Through the precise optimization of cutting parameters, when customers cut similar workpieces again, the section lines are significantly reduced or even eliminated. The cutting edge is flat, smooth and uniform in color, which not only saves the subsequent processing time but also effectively improves the processing efficiency and product appearance quality.

XingChuang Laser has long been committed to providing professional laser processing solutions for global customers. If you encounter any problems in the laser cutting process, our technical team is always ready to provide you with professional support and help.
